Force headed by VC of Medical University includes prominent paediatricians & officials
The experts are consistently dwarning that children are likely to be affected more in the third wave of the pandemic of Covid 19. In view of these warnings the state health department of Uttarakhand has set up a state level task force. The force headed by the vice chancellor (VC) of Uttarakhand Medical University, Dr HC Mishra would help in coordination between government and private hospitals to protect children from the infection. It would also help the state administration in designing the SoPs.
The government has included senior officers of the health department and prominent child specialists of government and private hospitals in the task force. It includes the director of medical health, Dr SK Gupta, former director generals of state health services and paediatricians, Dr DS Rawat and Dr Archana Srivastava, director of National Health Mission (NHM) Dr Saroj Naithani, president of IPA, Dr Alok Semwal, secretary of IPA, Dr PS Rawat, Head of Department of Paediatrics, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, Dr NK Bhatt, head of neonatal department at Himalayan hospital Dr Girish Gupta, HoD of Paediatrics at Himalayan hospital Dr Aswini Sood, HoD of Paediatrics at Government Doon Medical College Dr Ashok Kumar, Dr Apla Gupta, child specialist at Mahant Indiresh hospital Dr Utkarsh Sharma, associate professor at Sushila Tiwari Medical College Haldwani Dr Ritu Rikholia, Dr Amit Suyal, Dr Ravi Sahota of Kashipur, Dr Ravi Adhlakha of Haldwani, Dr Ashok Airen of Roorkee, Dr Rajesh Agarwal of Rishikesh and SMO, World Health Organisation (WHO) Uttarakhand Dr Vikas. In an order the Director General (DG) of state health services Dr Tripti Bahuguna said that the task force would suggest the number of beds to be reserved for children, equipment needed and act as high level reference centre for primary, middle and tertiary level treatment of children affected by the pandemic.
