The State administration has terminated the services of the suspended State Taxation officer Anil Kumar. The order of the termination of Kumar was issued by Commissioner of State Taxes, Uttarakhand Ahmed Iqbal on Monday. The complaint against Kumar was registered on the CM portal in February 2020 by one Anil Mata. In his complaint, Mata said that tax officer Anil Kumar demanded a bribe to clear the material being transported from Hisar in Haryana to Dehradun in truck number HR-39C -7088 on February 15, 2020. The officer was suspended on February 20, 2020 and was issued a charge sheet on August 8 last year. An inquiry was initiated in the matter which substantiated the allegations against Anil Kumar.
The termination of service of Anil Kumar comes close on heels of the arrest of former chairman of the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) RBS Rawat, former secretary of the UKSSSC, Manohar Kanyal and former examination controller of UKSSSC, RS Pokhria by the State Task Force (STF). These arrests were made by the STF in connection with the scam in VPDO examination conducted by the UKSSSC. Theses arrests are significant since Rawat apart from being the former chairman of the UKSSSC was also the former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) of Uttarakhand and had served as the advisor of Uttarakhand government during the tenure of Tirath Singh Rawat as chief minister of State.
