Teacher counselling: Many seats remain vacant in mountainous districts
Sunday, 11 August 2024 | PNS | DEHRADUN
The reluctance of the job aspirants to serve in the mountainous districts of the State was clearly visible in the counselling of the eligible candidates for the post of primary teachers in the government schools. The counselling to recruit 2,906 primary teachers and allot schools to them was held in all the 13 districts of the State on Saturday. However many seats in the mountainous districts remained vacant as a large number of the candidates failed to turn up for counselling.
However the candidates turned up in good numbers for the counselling organised in the plain districts of Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar. Interestingly very few candidates turned up for the counselling for 41 seats in Dehradun districts because all these vacancies are in the schools located in mountainous Chakrata and Kalsi blocks. The provision of the department which allows the eligible candidates to opt any district of their choice resulted in a situation where only the vacancies in the plain districts have been filled.
The additional director primary education, Raghunath Lal Ayra told The Pioneer that the department will fill the posts which have remained vacant after the end of counselling by candidates in the waiting list. As per the data of the department appointment of 298 teachers was be made for Pauri, 446 in Chamoli, 182 in Rudraprayag, 315 in Tehri, 211 in Uttarkashi, 41 in Dehradun, 184 in Haridwar, 190 in Nainital, 142 in Almora, 187 in Bageshwar, 75 in Champawat, 326 in Pithoragarh and 309 in Udham Singh Nagar district.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will hand over appointment letters to some of the selected candidates in a programme organised at his residence on August 14.
