Taking a stern view of the member teachers who are continuing to discharge the duties of officiating principals in the government schools, the Rajkeeya Shikshak Sangh (RSS) has threatened to expel them from the organisation.
On the directive of the RSS, the influential association of lecturers of government schools, more than 800 officiating principals had recently relinquished their posts. The association wants the department to promote the lecturers to the posts of principals instead of ad-hoc measures such as officiating principals.
In a circular the president of the RSS Ram Singh Chauhan said on Saturday that the association has undertaken an agitation in support of its demands and on November 17 it had asked all the officiating principals to relinquish their charge. However, the teachers were asked to continue taking up their teaching assignments. Chauhan said that despite the order many teachers are continuing to work as officiating principals. The association will issue show cause notice to all such teachers and will expel them for a period of three years and six months in case their reply is not found satisfactory
The association is up in arms against the government for its many demands which include inter-divisional transfer of teachers and according to the status of gazetted officers to the employees having grade pay of Rs 5,400.
Meanwhile, the department has handed over the charge of officiating principals to the ministerial (clerks) employees in the schools where the teachers have relinquished this duty.
