Teachers’ organisation seeks closure of Uttarakhand Education Directorate

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

Reacting to the recent order of the director general (DG), School Education, Jharna Kamthan, in which a restriction in the entry of people in the Education directorate is imposed, the Rajkeeya Shikshak Sangh (RSS), the organisation of lecturers and Licentiate Teachers (LT) of the State has demanded that the directorate should be shut down. In a letter to the Education DG, the president of RSS Ram Singh Chauhan said that in the current situation, the Education directorate has lost its relevance and it should be shut down.

He suggested that the building of the education directorate should be used for developmental activities and the officers and employees deployed here should be adjusted in other departments. Chauhan said that the officers posted in the directorate have no interest in the issues of the teachers and they are only engaged in their own issues and matters of promotion.

He said that from 2017, the promotions of teachers have ceased while the promotion process in other departments is going on smoothly. Chauhan said that the RSS has held various rounds of talks with the Education minister, secretary Education and other officers of department on various issues pertaining to teachers but barring inter- division transfers of teachers, all other issues such as promotion, increment, selection grade, pay disparity and travel leave have remained unresolved. He also demanded that all the teachers attached at education directorate, Vidhya Sameeksha Kendra, State Institute of Educational Management and Training (SIEMET) or State administration should be immediately relieved for the original place of posting.  Chauhan warned that the RSS will start a massive agitation if all the attachments are not cancelled.
