The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on Sunday recovered the body of a 15-year-old boy Sakir from Tons river in the Kalsi area of Dehradun. The officials said that the Kalsi police station got information on Saturday that a boy of Bhuddi area had drowned in the Tons river while bathing there.
The police immediately called the SDRF rescue team from Dakpatthar post to search for the boy using divers. The team along with divers searched for the boy for hours on Saturday but failed to find him, said the officials. They said that the SDRF team continued its intense search campaign on Sunday too and finally found his body in the river in the afternoon.
The officials said that the victim’s body was found quite deep in the river that is why the rescue team took considerable time to retrieve it. The team handed over the body to the local police. The police will hand over the body to the victim’s family after completion of the required procedure, the officials added.
