Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a rousing welcome during his visit to the border district of Pithoragarh on Thursday. The PM visited the holy Parvati Kund and Adi Kailash in the Himalaya during the morning. Here he offered prayers at the temple. The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on whose invitation the PM visited the State, accompanied him. The PM arrived at Jyolingkong helipad in Pithoaragarh district at 8:45 AM and covered a distance of one and half kilometres by car to reach Parvati Kund and Adi Kailash. The priests of the Rang community solemnised the prayers with traditional rituals. The PM appeared immersed in devotion and spirituality and offered prayers for about 25 minutes.

He said that Uttarakhand is Devbhoomi and every grain here is the abode of gods. He said that the temples of Uttarakhand are centres of faith and economy. The PM said that the livelihood of thousands of people is directly or indirectly connected with these temples. He said that in order to promote religious tourism all the temples are being developed as a circuit.

CM Dhami gave detailed information about Adi Kailash and nearby areas to the PM. The visit of the PM evoked enthusiasm among the villagers of Kuti, Nabi, Rongkang, Gunji, Garbyang and Boondi.  It is pertinent to mention here that PM Modi is the first PM to visit Adi Kailash. The legend has it that the family of Lord Shiva resides in Adi Kailash. It is located at an altitude of more than 14,000 meters and is considered as a holy and spiritual land. The area is located on the border of Tibet (China) and Nepal. The Uttarakhand government is hoping that the visit of PM Modi will give an impetus to the religious and spiritual tourism in the region.
