The tenure of the vice-chancellor of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Manmohan Singh Chauhan has been extended once again by six months. His current six-month term was scheduled to conclude on February 28. The chancellor of the university and Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Rtd) took the extension decision.

With this extension, Chauhan will continue to serve as VC from 1 March for the next six months or until the appointment of a new VC or until further orders—whichever is earlier. This step would ensure continuity in the academic functioning of the university, said the director, Communication, J P Jaiswal.

Notably, Chauhan completed his first three-year term from 29 August 2022 to 28 August 2025. Thereafter, he was granted a six-month extension from 29 August 2025 to 28 February 2026 by the chancellor.  During his three-and-a-half-year tenure, significant all-round development was achieved in academics, research, and extension activities, the university sources claimed.
