The newly elected mayor of Dehradun Saurabh Thapliyal will take oath of secrecy of the office of mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) in a swearing in ceremony to be held on Friday. Many workers could be seen making arrangements regarding decoration and seating arrangements in the MCD premises since Thursday morning. Along with the mayor, 100 councillors who have been elected from the wards will also take oath of office.
The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the president of Bharatiya Janata Party Mahendra Bhatt, Urban Development minister Premchand Agarwal, respective MLAs and other senior leaders are also expected to be present during the swearing in ceremony. The ceremony will be presided over by the Garhwal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey.
The Dehradun municipal commissioner Namami Bansal said that the oath ceremony of the elected mayor and councillors will take place on Friday at 5 PM in the corporation’s premises. She stated that all necessary preparations have been completed for the event. The first meeting of the newly elected MCD board will also take place following the oath taking ceremony in the evening, she added. The swearing in ceremony in other municipal bodies will also be carried out on Friday.
