THDCIL celebrates 38th foundation day with energy excellence pledge

THDC India Limited celebrated its 38th foundation day enthusiastically at its corporate office in Rishikesh and across all project offices and unit offices across the country on Saturday. The occasion marked not just another year in its illustrious journey since 1988, but also a year of landmark achievements that significantly expanded THDCIL’s energy portfolio and reinforced its commitment to sustainability, said the chairman and managing director, THDCIL, R K Vishnoi.

He also lauded the recent commissioning of the first and second units (250 MW each) of the 1000 MW Variable Speed Pumped Storage Plant (PSP) at Tehri, Uttarakhand—India’s first variable speed turbine and the largest PSP of its kind by any CPSE. “These achievements signify a major leap towards grid flexibility, renewable integration, and energy sustainability in India’s power sector,” he added.

Further, Vishnoi highlighted the commissioning of Unit-1 (660 MW) of the 1320 MW Khurja Super Thermal Power Project in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. “This milestone signifies THDCIL’s strategic expansion into thermal power, further diversifying its energy portfolio and reinforcing its commitment to meeting the nation’s growing power demands,” he said.

Among senior THDCIL officers present at the foundation day programme included director (Personnel),    Shallinder Singh ; director (Technical) Bhupender Gupta and director (Finance), Sipan Kumar Garg.
