THDCIL inks MoU for Water Sports High Performance Academy in Tehri

THDC India Limited signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association (IKCA), Uttaranchal Olympic Association (UOA) and the department of Youth Welfare and Sports for building a Water Sports High Performance Academy at Koteshwar in Tehri.

Chairman and managing director of THDCIL RK Vishnoi announced it on the first day of the two-day Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit-2023 inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Dehradun.   

As per the statement released by THDCIL, the State chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was present at the MoU signing ceremony and lauded THDCIL’s role in the State’s development. The statement further said that the initiative was meant to develop a state-of-the-art high-performance academy with a residential facility for male and female athletes where they would be provided cutting-edge tools, equipment and training.  

Vishnoi further said that THDCIL had also signed MoUs involving five hydro projects in Uttarakhand involving investment of Rs 17,000 crore which, on completion, would generate 1719 MW electricity aside from providing direct and indirect employment opportunities for the State’s youth.
