THDCIL, NHPC accord farewell to a retired Union power secretary

THDC India Limited and NHPC organised together a farewell ceremony for the retired secretary of the Ministry of Power, Government of India Alok Kumar at THDCIL’s corporate headquarters in Rishikesh. Speaking on the occasion, chairman and managing director THDCIL R K Vishnoi said that during his tenure as an IAS officer spanning over three decades, Alok Kumar had held several significant administrative positions in a wide spectrum of sectors, including revenue, transport, power, housing, urban planning and handicrafts and added that he had reached the pinnacle of his career as the secretary (Power) in Government of India, serving from February 2021 until June 2023, marked by visionary policies and transformation of the power sector, particularly the hydropower sector.
Among those who attended the farewell felicitation ceremony included the senior officers of the Union Ministry of Power like the joint secretary Mohammad Afzal and director Ashok Kumar aside from a number of directors of THDCIL and NHPC.
Alok Kumar said in his speech that the hydro sector’s contribution to the nation’s overall economic development is immense and the roles being played by HDCIL and NHPC in the emerging energy scenario are commendable.
A cultural programme was organied at the end of the farewell felicitation where noted Bollywood singer Mahalakshmi Iyer performed.
