The ongoing power struggle in the Uttarakhand Congress and levelling of allegations by the party leaders on one another has given a stick to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to beat the Congress party. The BJP State media in- charge Manvir Chauhan has said that the manner in which senior leaders of Congress party are levelling accusations on one another is detrimental for democracy. He said that though factionalism is an internal matter of the Congress party, the accusations that top leaders and the state in charge of the party sold tickets is a very serious issue. Chauhan said it is unfortunate that the party high command of Congress which should have investigated the allegations, has not even found it prudent to deny them. He claimed that it clearly shows that the party leaders in Delhi were privy to sale of party tickets in Uttarakhand.
Taking pot-shots at the Congress leaders, Chauhan said that the internal bickering has made the party a laughing stock among the people of the state. “Those under whom the elections were contested are blaming the state in charge and some leaders sitting in Delhi while the supporters of leader of opposition are accusing the state president for indulging in factionalism and the central leadership of Congress has held the leaders of the state responsible for the drubbing it received in the elections,’’ he said.
The BJP leader said that it is hilarious that all the bickering in the Congress party is occurring when the people have given the party a crushing defeat in the assembly elections. He added that the people of Uttarakhand are closely watching the bickering and the allegations of sale of party tickets and they would teach the lesson to the party again and again.
