Third wave of pandemic getting intense in U’khand
Six deaths, 4,482 new cases reported on Tuesday

The third wave of the pandemic of Covid-19 is getting more intense in the state. On Tuesday the state health department reported 4,482 new cases of the disease which is the highest daily count since May 19 last year when 4492 cases were reported. The department also reported the death of six patients on the day. The numbers of active cases of the disease have now crossed 20,000 in the state. The cumulative count of Covid-19 patients in the state is now at 3,77,731 while a total of 3,41,797 patients have recovered from the disease so far. A total of 7,450 people have died in the state so far from Covid-19. The recovery percentage from the disease dropped to 90. 49 per cent while the positivity rate jumped to 13.50 per cent on Tuesday.
Death of three patients was reported at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital while one patient each died at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, Mahant Indiresh hospital Dehradun and Vinay Vishal Health Care, Roorkee, Haridwar on Tuesday.
The state health department reported 1687 new patients from Dehradun, 644 from Nainital, 582 from Haridwar, 398 from Udham Singh Nagar, 270 from Pauri, 207 from Almora, 202 in Bageshwar, 157 from Tehri, 104 from Champawat, 81 from Bageshwar, 75 from Rudraprayag, 45 from Uttarkashi and 30 from Bageshwar on Tuesday.
The active case count of Covid-19 in the state has now jumped to 20,620. Dehradun with 8,664 cases is at the top of the table of active cases while Nainital has 2,884 active cases of the disease which is followed by Haridwar district with 2,799 active cases. Uttarkashi is at the bottom of the table with 99 active cases of the disease.
In the ongoing vaccination drive 41,284 people were vaccinated in 1229 sessions in the state held on Tuesday.
