Those who foisted emergency are talking about threat to democracy: Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the Congress party is spreading canard in an attempt to mislead the people of the country. He said that it is a pity that those who had foisted an emergency on the country are now talking about a threat to democracy. The CM was addressing a public meeting organised at GMS Road here on Friday. The CM said that prior to 2014 during the Congress regime, new scams used to come to the fore on a daily basis but today the corrupt are either in jail or are on bail due to the policy of zero tolerance on corruption adopted by the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi government. Paying homage to the former MLA and speaker Harbans Kapur, the CM said that the people of Dehradun Cantonment Assembly will continue to support the BJP in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. 

Exhorting people to give their vote to the party’s Tehri candidate Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, the CM said that their vote will help in making Narendra Modi the Prime Minister of the country again.

He said that PM Modi has special affection for Uttarakhand and under his leadership projects worth Rs two lakh crore have been sanctioned. 

The CM said that the dream of a developed, great and self-reliant India is getting fulfilled under PM Modi’s leadership since 2014. In the last 10 years, a total of 55,000 km of National Highways have been constructed and construction of 15 All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and 74 airports have been done.

The CM informed that more than 25 crore people have come out of poverty in the last 10 years. He added that under the leadership of PM Modi, Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) has been implemented and article 370 of constitution abrogated. Dhami said that the dream of a grand temple of Lord Ram in Ayodhya has been fulfilled.

 He claimed that India has set up a new record in the field of defence export. The country has exported defence equipment worth Rs 21,000 crore to 80 nations. One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme was implemented to provide rightful dues to the armed forces personnel.

He said that the passage of a bill in Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the State assembly, stringent anti-copying act, anti riot ordinance and action against land Jihad are some of the achievements of the BJP government of Uttarakhand. Dhami said that the BJP government has provided 30 per cent reservation in government jobs to the women of the State and has made an arrangement of giving 10 per cent horizontal reservation to the statehood activists.

 The local MLA Savita Kapur, in-charge of Tehri Lok Sabha Vinay Rohilla, Neha Joshi and others were present on the occasion.
