A total of 4,739 candidates out of the 5,793 registered candidates from Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag districts appeared on day three of the army recruitment rally under the Agnipath scheme in Kotdwar on Sunday.
Earlier, on Saturday the ADG (Recruitment) Major General NS Rajpurohit visited the Agniveer recruitment rally and inspected arrangements for the rally being held at Kotdwar in Pauri district for the recruitment of candidates from seven districts of the Garhwal region. Out of the 5,943 candidates from four Tehsils of Chamoli district and three Tehsils of Uttarkashi district registered to appear in the rally on Saturday, a total of 4,948 participated in the recruitment rally. According to the army special arrangements had been made for any eventuality arising out of rains. Modern shelters to accommodate about 9,000 persons were set up by the district administration in the assembly area and marshalling area. Buses were also arranged at the exit point of the rally site by the administration for easy transportation and movement of candidates appearing for the recruitment, said officials.
It is pertinent to mention here that a total of 63,360 candidates had registered for recruitment in various categories under the Agnipath scheme across the State.
