Thousands flock to Nainital on weekend

A large number of visitors arrived in Nainital from different parts of the country on the weekend. The hill station was crowded from the morning till late in the night due to the large number of visitors on Saturday which also saw moderate rainfall. While those in businesses linked to tourism are happy with the tourist footfalls, the locals and others not involved in such businesses are facing various inconveniences including congestion due to the crowds.
It is expected that the number of visitors will increase on Sunday. On Saturday, a total of 1,379 persons visited the cave gardens, 1,281 visited the zoo while 776 adults and 180 minors used the cable car. The botanical garden in Narayannagar area was visited by 415 tourists while the Woodland waterfall on the Nainital-Kaladhungi motor road was visited by 714 persons. Apart from Nainital, a large number of tourists also visited other nearby locations including Bhawali, Bhimtal, Naukuchiyatal, Sattal, Sariyatal, Kainchi and Mukteshwar among other locations.
