Thousands run for a clean Rispana in Doon

Thousands of citizens including youngsters and senior citizens participated in a run organised by Making a Difference by Being the Difference (MAD) here on Sunday. According to MAD, more than 8,000 people gathered at Parade Ground to participate in the “Apna Sapna Saaf Rispana marathon” which was supported by over 25 organisations for the cause of reviving the Rispana river. Additional director general of police (Administration) Amit Sinha was the chief guest on the occasion. Participants of all ages took a pledge to actively contribute to the revival of the Rispana at the event. MAD had also displayed the current state of the Rispana with water samples collected from Landour to Mothrowala, highlighting the urgent need for action. The run started from Parade Ground, passed through Race Course, Survey Chowk and concluded at Parade Ground. Pradeep Kumar Pal and Anjali Chauhan came first, Nitin Bhandari and Prachie Bisht came second and Monu Kumar and Tanushree Chauhan came third in the boys’ and girls’ categories respectively. The first, second and third place winners received cash prizes of Rs 8,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 each respectively. Among the senior citizens, Mukesh Rana (60) came first followed by Sunil Saini (56) and Vinod Saklani (62). According to the event organisers, the run was conducted as an eco-friendly, no-plastic event. Water was served in steel glasses and all banners were made from cloth, reinforcing the commitment to sustainable practices.
