In latest news from Uttarakhand, braving the bone-chilling cold and dense fog, thousands of people took the holy dip at all the well-known ghats of Ganga, including the famed Har Ki Pauri, on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti. The administration claimed to have made all arrangements to facilitate unhindered movement of the devotees. Police also said they had ensured congestion-free traffic movement on the roads. Like Haridwar, thousands of devotees thronged the eminent Bhagirathi ghats in Uttarkashi to take holy dips on the occasion. After taking the dip, the devotees visited temples dedicated to deities to seek divine blessing on this day endowed with religious/spiritual significance.
