The police have arrested three accused of the murder of property dealer Manjesh Kumar that occurred in Patelnagar area of Dehradun on November 30. Kumar was found dead in a rented room, allegedly strangled to death by his business partner and his accomplices. The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said that the house owner informed the police that the room was rented to Sachin, who often had a visitor, Arjun.

Both men were seen with Kumar the night before the incident and fled afterward. Based on preliminary findings, the police registered a case against Sachin and Arjun. Sachin was arrested near Asharodi within 24 hours and his confession led to Arjun’s arrest outside a Haryana court. The SSP said that during questioning, it was revealed that Kumar had reportedly asked Arjun to kill his business partner, Sanjay alias Fauji, due to a dispute over property dealings. Instead of carrying out the task, Arjun informed Sanjay about the plan. Sanjay offered Arjun and Sachin money to kill Kumar instead.

Singh said that Arjun and Sachin called Kumar to the rented room on the pretext of a gathering on November 30. “They strangled him and took his gold chain, ring and car keys. They tried to dispose of the body but fled when police arrived at the scene. Sanjay and another accomplice, Afzal, were later arrested. The stolen items were recovered, including the deceased’s car keys from Sanjay and the jewellery from Afzal,” the SSP said. He praised the quick action of the investigation teams and announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000 for the officers involved in investigation teams.
