Three blackmailing with morphed pics nabbed from NCR

The Dehradun police arrested three men accused of trying to blackmail a Dehradun resident with morphed obscene photographs of the complainant and her family members. The police informed that a woman had complained in Nehru Colony police station on January 31 saying that she was getting calls from an unidentified person from different mobile phone numbers. The person was verbally abusing her and her family members, issuing death threats and sending morphed photographs and videos of the complainant and her family members by WhatsApp. Registering a case under various sections of BNS and IT Act, the police gathered details of the suspect numbers through surveillance. Gaining important evidence, the police gathered information about the suspects, took three of them from Delhi-Gurugram into custody and brought them to Doon for questioning on Saturday. The trio said that they used to work at a call centre in the past from where they had collected numbers of those who had enquired online about loans. The accused used to call such persons from virtual numbers and threaten them regarding recovery to gain their personal data along with the numbers and names of their family members. They used to especially target women, morph their profile pics and extort money through UPI on the threat of sending the obscene pics to their relatives and others.They used to remove the data of their target from the mobile phones after receiving the money. The trio was identified as New Delhi resident Sachin Kumar (22), Vishal Tiwari (24) also from New Delhi and Gurugram resident Pawan Kumar (24). They were presented in the court on Sunday, from where they were sent to the district jail.
