Three children buried under debris in Gaurikund, two dead

In latest Uttarakhand news, with the rain fury still pounding Uttarakhand, Gaurikund-the starting point of the Kedarnath shrine trek-witnessed another tragedy. Three children were buried under debris following rain-triggered landslides and two of them died. According to the Rudraprayag police officers, the incident happened in Gauri village in early morning. They further informed that the three children, buried under the debris, were of Nepalese origin. On receiving information, NDRF, SDRF and police teams reached the site and pulled the children out of the debris with the help of the locals. The district disaster management officer said that the children were rushed to the Gaurikund-based hospital where the doctors pronounced two of them dead while the third child is now undergoing treatment.
Notably, a few days ago, massive landslides hit some shops in Gaurikund in the wake of heavy downpour, resulting in three deaths and about 20 people still remaining untraced.
