Three-day Vasantotsav-2025 concludes at Raj Bhawan

The three-day Vasantotsav-2025 concluded at the Raj Bhawan here on Sunday. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee lifted the running trophy this year. IIT Roorkee won awards in 10 categories while the Uttarakhand Sainik Punarvas Sansthan and Pattharchatta won in three categories each. There were 15 categories and 55 sub-categories with a total of 165 awards being presented by the governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh at the conclusion of the event.

Speaking on the occasion, the governor said that a large number of people had visited and participated in the Vasantotsav this year, making it a festival of the people. About 2.7 lakh people attended the three-day event, he said, while adding that technology and innovations had also been utilised in the event this year to make it more effective and attractive.

 Singh said that a rise in the flower-based economy will definitely enhance prosperity in the State. He said that there are major possibilities in the sphere of honey, aromatic plants and flowers in Uttarakhand, which can bring about revolutionary changes in the State’s economic prosperity and rural development. The participation of cultivators, women and youths had made this event more special. He congratulated all the winners, participants and the main organiser- Horticulture department, Culture department and other departments for the successful event.

Speaking on the occasion, Agriculture and Horticulture minister Ganesh Joshi said that the Vasantotsav this year had seen unprecedented participation of the public. Stating that this event is being held in better ways every year due to motivation from the governor, the minister said that it will be given a grander form in the future.

The first lady Gurmit Kaur, chief minister’s wife Geeta Dhami and various officials were also present on the occasion.
