The Directorate General of Health has selected three specialist doctors from the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya District Hospital to provide services during the Char Dham Yatra. This year’s Char Dham Yatra is scheduled to commence on April 30, 2025, with the opening of the Gangotri and Yamunotri temples, followed by Kedarnath on May 2 and Badrinath on May 4. To enhance healthcare services for the pilgrims during this period, authorities have selected doctors from across the state.

Informing about this, the medical superintendent at the hospital Dr VS Chauhan stated that the hospital administration recently received notification about the doctors assigned specifically for the duration of the Char Dham Yatra. He said that three specialist doctors have been chosen by the Directorate General of Health for this purpose.

Among the three medical professionals, one is a physician who has been relocated to provide services for the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarkashi from August 12 to August 28. Additionally, two orthopedic surgeons at the district hospital have been assigned to the Kedarnath Yatra route. However, these two will not be on duty at the Yatra route simultaneously; instead, they will work on a rotation basis. For example, one surgeon’s duty at the Yatra route will begin on July 26 and continue until August 11, while the other will start providing services at the Yatra route from September 24 until the conclusion of the Char Dham Yatra.

He said that it has been observed that during the Char Dham period, seasonal changes and summer conditions lead to an increase in infection cases at the district hospital, along with a rise in outpatient numbers. Nevertheless, the hospital administration is committed to ensuring that the temporary adjustment of doctors during this period will not affect patients visiting the hospital. The other doctors available during that time, including the rest of the physicians and orthopedic surgeons, will offer their services to the patients at the hospital. Notably, at present, the district hospital has three physicians and four orthopedic surgeons providing care.
