Three feared dead in separate mishaps in Uttarkashi

Three persons are feared dead in two separate incidents in the Uttarkashi district on Monday. According to officials, two women were swept away in the Bhagirathi while fetching water from the river below Nageshwar Dham in the Dunda area in the afternoon. They have been identified as Sonam Singh and Rajeshwari Singh, both from Kunsi village. District officials along with SDRF and police personnel reached the site to search for the women. In the other accident, a boulder fell from the mountain on a jeep carrying three persons near Orcha Bend on the Yamunotri national highway. One of the persons sustained minor injuries in the accident though the driver of the jeep died after getting stuck in the mangled vehicle. The SDRF, 108 ambulance and police reached the site along with district officials. The driver was identified as Pushkar Singh Maluda from Dhautri in Badkot area of the district. The injured man was taken for primary treatment to the Badkot health centre while the other passenger went home on his own.
