Three-fourth of road upgradation works under PMGSY completed in U’khand

Three-fourth of the approved road upgradation works under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) have been completed in Uttarakhand. Additionally, five projects amounting to about Rs 300 crore have been approved for the Swadesh Darshan programme and the PRASAD scheme under the tourism head. 

This information was provided in response to questions asked by the Rajya Sabha member and Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt in the Upper House. Regarding information sought from the Rural Development Ministry about road upgradation works under PMGSY in Uttarakhand, it was stated that till December 1, a total of 447 road upgradation works costing Rs 2,701.64 crore had been approved and out of these, 313 road upgradation works covering a length of about 3,212 kilometres and costing Rs 1,918.94 crore had been completed.

Bhatt had also sought information regarding the works approved under the Swadesh Darshan and PRASAD schemes for tourism development in the State. Union Tourism minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat informed that under the PRASAD scheme, the ministry had approved three projects amounting to Rs 145.28 crore for improving the spiritual experience of tourists in pilgrimage places. Similarly, under the Swadesh Darshan scheme, the ministry had approved two projects amounting to Rs 145.59 crore for eco circuit and heritage circuit in the State.
