Three Himachali men arrested with 125 kg dynamite in Tyuni

Police arrested three Himachali men in the Tyuni area of Dehradun district with 125 kilogrammes of dynamite during a checking drive conducted in view of the Panchayat elections late on Thursday. The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said that the police found five boxes of dynamite inside the vehicle, weighing a total of 125 kilogrammes. When asked to produce documents related to the transportation of the explosive material, the occupants of the car failed to present any.

Following this, police registered a case under Sections 3 and 7 of the Explosives Act, 1884 at Tyuni police station against the three individuals, he said. The arrested men have been identified as Rinku (37) from Balang village in Shimla, Rohit Singh (19) from Ronahat village in Sirmaur and Sunil (38) from Saidoli village in Shimla.

The SSP informed that the police also recovered two detonator boxes, one roll of red-coloured wire and one bundle of blue fuse cord from the vehicle (HP 09C 9788). The investigation is ongoing, he said. Singh also stated that all police station in-charges have been directed to keep close watch on illegal activities that could influence the election process. The checking drive will continue across the district to ensure peace, law and order is maintained during the elections.
