Three killed after truck hits riders in Haldwani

With there being no respite from fatal road accidents in Uttarakhand, the latest mishap in Haldwani resulted in three deaths on Tuesday. A man, his son and a child riding on a motorcycle died after an accident involving a truck on the Kaladhungi Road here. The mishap occurred when the father-so duo along with a child were returning home on a motorcycle.

Natives of Bareily in Uttar Pradesh, Jai Singh Maurya worked in the farming sector in Kamluwaganja area. On Tuesday morning, he had gone with his son Bhupendra Maurya and a child Shivam Kashyap, to purchase school books in the Haldwani bazaar. After purchasing the school books, Maurya was riding back to his home with his son and the other child when his motorcycle was reportedly hit by a truck near Kamluwaganja.

The trio were seriously injured and Maurya did on the spot. His son and the other child were taken to the Sushil Tiwari hospital in Haldwani where both died during treatment. The Mukhani police station in-charge Vijay Mehta reached the site on being informed about the accident. The police seized the truck involved in the mishap and took the driver into custody. Sources stated that according to preliminary inquiry, the truck was being driven at speed at the time of the mishap.
