Three new cases of dengue were reported in the Dehradun district on Tuesday. Stating this, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Dehradun, Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma said that one case is from Dehradun, while the other two are from other districts.

The total number of patients currently hospitalised after testing positive for denge now stands at three, with one patient at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, one at Himalayan Hospital and one at Graphic Era Hospital. This brings the total number of ELISA-positive dengue cases to 37, which includes 21 patients from Dehradun and 16 from other districts or states.

He further added that on Tuesday alone, 140 dengue samples were collected, contributing to an overall total of 1,958 samples collected to date. Dr Sharma also stated that there have been no reported deaths from dengue so far.

It will be recalled that to mitigate the occurrence of dengue, the Health department has prepared an action plan set to begin in May. Under this action plan, the initiative will involve approximately 651 Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) in Dehradun and 40 in Rishikesh. These ASHAs will conduct surveys in their respective wards—100 in Dehradun and 40 in Rishikesh. Alongside the ASHAs, 100 volunteers for the Dehradun area and 40 for the Rishikesh area will engage in raising awareness and inspecting for larvae within their assigned wards.
