With leaders of various political parties continuing to join the Bharatiya Janata Party even as campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections picks pace, three-time former Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Haridas joined the BJP along with his supporters here on Saturday. He joined the party in the presence of BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt and the party’s Haridwar candidate and former chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and cabinet minister Dhan Singh Rawat.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhatt said that a senior leader like Haridas joining the BJP shows that the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is receiving support from followers of all religions, castes, areas and segments in Uttarakhand. “The blessing of the public and Lord Ram are with PM Modi so in these Lok Sabha elections, it is a certainty that the BJP will win more than 370 seats while the NDA will win more than 400 seats. I assure all those who agree with the ideology of our party that we will take care of their honour. The time is limited so without wasting any time, we have to dive deep and work hard to break past electoral records,” the BJP State president said.
Speaking on the occasion, Haridas said that he and his supporters had joined the BJP considering the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and works done for the welfare of all communities and segments of society. He opined that this is the first time when any government at the Centre has done such unprecedented works for the welfare of the backward segments of society. “Similarly, considering the works done in Uttarakhand under chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami we felt it was our moral responsibility that we too should contribute in making this decade Uttarakhand’s. Former BSP State vice president Aditya Brijwal along with a number of former public representatives and BSP leaders from Haridwar district also joined the BJP on the occasion.
It is pertinent to mention here that recently, the BSP announced Bhawna Pandey as its candidate from the Haridwar parliamentary constituency. According to observers, some leaders and workers in the BSP in Haridwar are not happy with the party fielding her as its candidate from the Haridwar constituency.
