Three youth drowned in two separate incidents on the occasion of Holi in Rishikesh on Wednesday. The authorities were unable to recover their bodies till Thursday night. The police informed that two 22-year-old youth Aditya Raj and Utkarsh belonging to Kolkata and Agra respectively went to bathe near the Ganga river at Shivpuri Namami Gange Ghat of Rishikesh on Holi. They both went deep into the river while bathing and drowned as they could not return back as per the locals, said the police.
The police said that Shobhit Yadav, a 30-year-old resident of Moradabad, who had come there with his friends, also drowned in the Patna Waterfall in Lakshmanjhula area on Wednesday, when he reportedly slipped and fell into the river. The police said that they called the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to both locations to carry out the rescue operation but their bodies were not found till late on Thursday evening.
