The weather is set to take a turn yet again on Monday with rain and thunderstorms forecast in various parts which may bring the temperatures down again in the State. Even as many parts of the State continued to experience above normal temperatures on Sunday, the State Meteorological Centre issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of moderate to dense fog likely in Udham Singh Nagar district. Further, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning are likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri and Haridwar districts on Monday. Apart from this, very light to light rain is likely to occur at a few places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Dehradun, Tehri, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts and at isolated places in Pauri, Almora and Haridwar districts today.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is likely to witness a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of very light to light rain likely in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 20 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
It will be recalled that the Indian Meteorological Department had earlier forecast a change in the weather on January 6 and 7 due to a western disturbance. Apart from the change in weather forecast on Monday, areas situated at altitudes of 2,500 metres and above may witness snowfall on January 7.
Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Sunday were 24.6 degrees Celsius and 8.1 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 22 degrees Celsius and 8.8 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 21.1 degrees Celsius and 7.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 20.5 degrees Celsius and 9.4 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. The maximum temperature was five degrees Celsius above normal in Dehradun while the minimum temperature was a degree above normal. The maximum and minimum temperatures were three degrees each above normal in Pantnagar while the maximum was nine degrees above normal and the minimum was five degrees above normal in Mukteshwar. The maximum temperature was five degrees above normal and the minimum was six degrees above normal in New Tehri on Sunday.
