Thunderstorms and rain forecast, no relief from summer heat in plains

Even as the summer temperatures remain high in the State, especially the plains, rainy weather is forecast today. The State meteorological centre has issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty wind (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Dehradun and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand and gusty wind (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Haridwar, Pauri and Udham Singh Nagar district. Further, very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Dehradun and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State on Friday.
Provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky with thunder cloud development likely to occur towards evening/night. Surface winds are likely to be strong and gusty during the day time while the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 37 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Thursday were 35.6 degrees Celsius and 18.5 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 37 degrees Celsius and 15 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 25.6 degrees Celsius and 8.9 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 25.5 degrees Celsius and 11.4 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
