Thunderstorms with very intense spells of rain likely in five districts today

Even as Dehradun and other parts of the State witnessed warm and humid conditions yet again on Saturday, the State meteorological centre has forecast thunderstorms and intense spells of rain in at least five districts of the State on Sunday. The centre has issued a yellow warning (Be Updated) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Bageshwar, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Champawat districts today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at few places in Dehradun and all districts of Kumaon region and at isolated places in the remaining districts of the State.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. One to two spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur towards the evening/night, which may be intense in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 35 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Saturday were 35.4 degrees Celsius and 24.8 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 35.8 degrees Celsius and 25.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 25.7 degrees Celsius and 15.9 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 27.4 degrees Celsius and 18.2 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
