A tiger was found dead in the Terai west forest division here on Sunday. According to official sources, early on Sunday morning, the department staff had received information about a tiger being seriously injured in the Ampokhra range of the forest division in Ramnagar.
A rescue team left for the site from Ramnagar but the tiger had reportedly succumbed by the time the team reached the site. The big cat’s body was brought to Ramnagar for post mortem examination. According to the Terai west divisional forest officer Balwant Shahi, the tiger found dead was a male aged about nine years. The exact cause of his death would be known after the post mortem report is received, he added.
