A tiger attacked and mauled a patrolling worker identified as Ganesh Panwar in Kaniya beat under Bijrani zone under Ramnagar forest division of Corbett Tiger Reserve. As the forest staff fired three rounds in the air to scare the tiger away, it left, leaving the injured worker bleeding profusely. He was rushed to Ramnagar Hospital. His condition was stated to be serious.
Upon receiving the information of the attack, CTR director Saket Badola and deputy director Rahul Mishra reached the hospital and inquired about the injured worker’s condition. Later, Badola said that the tiger had attacked Ganesh on his head, adding that it had been identified. He further said that an order had been issued to tranquilise and capture the tiger. “Our staff are patrolling the area round the clock,” he said. He also appealed to the villagers living in the forest’s vicinity not to venture out into the forest area where the tiger was supposed to be lurking.
