The tiger terror continuing to haunt Pauri district with the big cat being spotted regularly, the district administration has imposed curfew from 7 in evening to 6 in morning on 25 villages under Rikhnikhal and Nainidanda blocks. Section 144 of CrPC has already been in force in these villages. Forest department officers said that cages have been installed in the areas where the tiger is supposed to be lurking. This aside, a tranquilising team has been formed and kept ready. Meanwhile, the district magistrate Ashish Chouhan went to the villages affected by the tiger terror and talked to the villagers.
Notably, in back to back incidents, two people were mauled to death by tigers. One Birendra Singh (73) was killed by tiger in Dalla village when he was harvesting his wheat crop. Hardly two days after, another elderly man, a retired teacher (75), was mauled to death by a big cat. The forest department deployed its staffers immediately. It is learnt from the forest department that the area is being round the clock watched through drone cameras. The DFO Swapnil Anirudha asked the people to be alert and not to venture out after dark. The pradhan of Melghat village said that two tigers have been spotted, lurking near the area. The forest department staffers said that as the tiger was roaming about outside the range of the tranquiliser gun it could not be tranquilised yet.
