The Jyotish Peeth Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati has said that he is reaching Joshimath to stand with his loved ones at a time when the city and its thousands of residents are threatened by continued land subsidence. He is slated to leave for Joshimath on Saturday. The seer who had earlier written to the President Droupadi Murmu seeking her intervention in the issue in the face of lethargic approach of the authorities, said that due to the alarming situation in Joshimath, he has cancelled all his programmes and is reaching Joshimath. He recalled that he had earlier written to the President, Prime Minister, Home minister and chief minister regarding the situation in Joshimath and had sought necessary action without delay.
Avimukteshwaranand said, “Cracks have appeared in many walls in Jyotirmath itself and the ground is also sinking. That’s why we all left all our work and decided to go among our people first and demanded that geologists should be called there.”
