Timmersain Yatra to be promoted as major winter tourism programme

The Chamoli district magistrate Sandeep Tiwari held a review meeting with the members of the religious fraternity regarding the preparations for the Timmersain Mahadev Yatra. He said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had mentioned the importance of Timmersain Mahadev Yatra in the winter tourism programme while he was in Harshil, Uttarkashi. “Besides, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami instructed all the district magistrates to develop and promote the winter tourism destinations in their respective districts.
A team of district level officers will visit Timmersain in the last week of March or the first week of April depending on the weather and road conditions. During the visit, the team members will get acuminated with the mythological and spiritual importance of the Timmersain temple along with the cultural activities of the Niti Valley,” the DM said
The temple committee chairman Devendra Singh Rana said that like Amarnath, a Shivlinga is formed naturally in Timmersain which remains intact till April. “Significantly, before 1962, the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra would start from here,” he said. He also appealed to the State government to start the pilgrimage from Niti Valley.
