Tiwari calls upon plywood industry to comply with QCO provisions

The head and director of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Dehradun, Saurabh Tiwari has said that the quality control order (QCO) for plywood and wood-based products has been notified and implemented by the Government of India. He was addressing an industry meet of the plywood and wood based product manufactures here on Friday. The programme was organised in cooperation with the UK- UP Plywood Association. 

Informing about BIS’s role in ensuring the quality, safety and reliability of products, Tiwari called upon industry representatives to actively comply with QCO provisions to protect consumer interests, ensure product quality and promote fair trade practices.

During the technical session, former member of the BIS Technical Committee and an expert in wood technology, Pushpendra Singhal shared his views on the current challenges facing the plywood industry. He also provided information on the latest technological developments and emerging trends in the plywood and wood-based products sector. 

Joint Director, BIS Sachin Chaudhary gave a detailed presentation on BIS certification processes, conformity assessment requirements, and the latest guidelines.

Sandeep Gupta and Aditya Agarwal representing the UK-UP Plywood Association shared their insights from the industry perspective.

The president, Wood Technologists’ Association, Manoj Gwari also participated in the programme.
