To manage sanitation, MCD to hire new agency
The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) is likely to select an agency within 15 days to facilitate the sanitation facilities in the new 31 wards. According to the chief municipal health officer Dr Kailash Joshi, the corporation has received several promising proposals but the selection procedure is still under process.
Moreover, the officials have stated that the corporation is considering to select two agencies instead of one to manage the sanitation facilities in the new wards but the final decision will be taken after all the proposals would be analysed by the officials. After the MCD will select an agency to manage sanitation facilities in new wards, the door to door garbage collection service will be available in all the wards of Dehradun, as per the officials.
Since the inspection of Dehradun city under Swacch Survekshan 2021 got delayed due to Covid-19 pandemic and will now occur in March instead of January as per the officials, the municipal corporation is trying to commence door to door service by the mid of February.
