Tourist influx up in Dhanaulti on Xmas, ahead of New Year
PNS | NEW TEHRI
The tourists are thronging the popular hill stations like Dhanaulti, Kanatal and Buranshkhanda in Tehri district in their hordes for Xmas and new Year celebrations. The hoteliers and others associated with the hospitality sector look elated, brimming with hope that the trend of surging tourist footfall in Dhanaulti and nearby destinations which started on Christmas Eve would continue till the New Year celebration. “With the stage set for fresh and heavy snowfall in the coming days, we expect that the tourist influx will gain further intensity and reach a crescendo on the New Year day. We are naturally happy,” said a beaming owner of a Dhanaulti-based hotel.
On Wednesday-the day of Christmas, Dhanaulti seemed almost chock-a-block with tourists pouring in with families and friends.
Along with the hoteliers, the owners of the shops situated in the Chamba-Mussoorie fruit belt look exultant too. “They are pouring in areas like Thangdhar, Kanatal and Buranshkhanda from Punjab, Haryana and Delhi aside from Dehradun to enjoy the snowy valleys. They are likely to enjoy a snow-white Year End and the advent of the New Year. Heavy snowfall during this time is almost imminent,” said a shop owner radiantly.
Many of the tourists are seen enjoying adventure sports like rock climbing in Thangdhar and Jadipani areas.
On the flipside, the surge in the tourist footfall brings about increasing traffic logjam. Keeping this matter in view, the police department has deployed personnel in adequate numbers to man the bustling intersections to spare the tourists on-the-road ordeals.
Dhanaulti tehsildar, Rajendra Prasad Mamgai said that all necessary steps have been taken to ensure a hassle-free travelling experience for the tourists.
