In latest news from Uttarakhand, even amid intermittent rain coupled with fog, the tourists, who have come to Nainital from across the country in their hordes, seem to be enjoying a lot. Some of them said that though the rain was depriving them of the fun of boating on the Naini lake and Himalaya Darshan trips, they were still happy. “Though it feels cold as sun is not being sighted, we enjoy our days in this beautiful tourist spot. This is my maiden trip and I am looking forward to experience snowfall. The first snowfall of this season has already happened I heard and I am impatiently waiting for the second one,” said a tourist from Noida beamingly.
Along with the tourists, those engaged in farming also look happy. They said that after the prolonged dry spell, this rain and snow are like divine blessing.
Many were seen huddled together near fire in groups to beat the freezing cold. The shop owners shuttered their establishments early evening with people choosing to remain indoors.
However, despite the rain-six mm rain was recorded in 24 hours- the water level of the Naini lake has not risen a bit. The Naini lake control room in-charge Ramesh Singh Gaida said that the water level remained stable at 6ft 2.5ins.
