As seen on similar occasions in the past, the rush of tourists on Christmas caused major traffic congestion in Nainital on the weekend. Though those involved in businesses connected to tourism welcomed the large tourist footfall on Sunday, both the visitors and locals could be seen suffering from the congestion with traffic crawling on the city roads.
The arrival of tourists has picked up not only in Nainital but also in nearby locations including Bhimtal, Mukteshwar, Ramgarh and Pangot with the New Year celebrations just a few days away. In Nainital city, the tourists could be seen thronging the usual attractions including the Naini lake, the zoo and prominent shrines.However, the partly cloudy skies and cold weather also affected the movement of both locals and visitors especially during the evening.
