In view of Holi falling near the weekend, a large number of tourists from various cities have arrived in Nainital. A large number of tourists were present in Nainital on Saturday. Many of the visitors could be seen clicking selfies at the designated point at the entry point of the city- Tallital Danth while a large number thronged the Mall Road, Pant Park, Bada Bazaar, Snow View, zoo, Hanuman Garhi and other popular tourist destinations. Those who had arrived a day earlier also participated in the Holi festivities along with the locals.
However, as seen in the past, the large number of tourist arrivals resulted in traffic congestion in the lake city. The hotels in the city were fully occupied and the parking facility too was packed with the vehicles of tourists. With the parking full, the vehicles of tourists were parked on Mall Road, Tallital and Mallital. The holiday on account of Holi has resulted in Nainital being packed with tourists for about three days now. The visitors are enjoying boating on the Naini lake. The crowds of tourists have boosted the local business considerably at a time when many in the business fraternity across the state were disappointed by less than expected business on Holi which was celebrated without Covid restrictions after about two years. While the businessmen made brisk profits, the locals in general bore the brunt along with others as the traffic in the city was clogged during the afternoon due to the arrival of large number of tourists.
