Acting on the instructions of the superintendent of police, Uttarkashi, Kamlesh Upadhyay, the district traffic police team conducted a checking campaign in the Uttarkashi and Naugaon market areas and took action against 28 vehicle drivers under the Motor Vehicle Act. According to police, challans were issued against 18 in Uttarkashi market and 10 in Naugaon.
The campaign was focused against illegal roadside parking, riding without helmets, triple riding and traffic rule violations.
The SP said that the surging incidents of people riding without helmets on, allowing minors to ride two-wheelers and stunting had forced them to launch the drive. A special checking campaign would be launched across the district from November 25 and strict legal action would be taken against the violators of traffic rules under the MV Act, the SP added.
