Traffic directorate to update alternate routes for blocked roads during Char Dham Yatra

The traffic directorate on Friday held a meeting with a team of Google maps to provide best alternative routes to pilgrims if the main routes get closed due to traffic issues like road accidents, bad weather or debris accumulation on road during Char Dham Yatra.

The director of the directorate Mukhtar Mohsin said that various departments have made preparations at their own level to ensure pilgrims face no difficulties during Char Dham Yatra. He said that the traffic directorate has also been doing several works including taking effective measures to curb road accidents. He said that the directorate is working on a plan on preparing and providing alternate routes if traffic problems occur on main routes to ensure passengers do not face inconvenience and can travel through proper routes.

A team associated with Google maps also gave a presentation and a live demo session on Friday. Mohsin said that as per the proposed plan, if any road will be blocked due to certain traffic problem, the police of that area will immediately inform about it digitally to the traffic directorate as they get inform about such issues first. After getting this information, the directorate will immediately share the location of other alternative routes with the team of Google maps which will update it on Google. Mohsin has appealed to all the pilgrims planning to arrive in the State for Char Dham Yatra to install Google maps to stay updated with traffic regarding information on routes to avoid inconvenience.
