The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) held the 12th public hearing on the Draft Dehradun Master Plan 2041 at the Wildlife Institute of India auditorium on Chandrabani Road on Tuesday. Residents, landowners, social organisations, business representatives and other stakeholders attended the meeting and shared their suggestions and objections. MDDA officials and technical experts explained the proposed plan and interacted with the participants.
During the hearing, many people raised concerns about increasing traffic in Chandrabani, Mohkampur, Shimla Bypass and nearby areas. They demanded better roads, improved public transport, more parking facilities and new connecting roads to meet the needs of the growing population. Citizens also asked for better water supply, sewerage, drainage, solid waste management and other public services. Many participants stressed the need to protect Dehradun’s greenery, natural water sources and open spaces while planning future development.
MDDA vice chairman Banshidhar Tiwari said the Master Plan 2041 is a roadmap for the city’s future and public participation is important to make it more practical and people-friendly. Tiwari said all suggestions and objections received during the hearing will be carefully examined before preparing the final draft of the Master Plan.
