The traffic police in Dehradun have drawn up a special traffic plan for Christmas based on their 15-day analysis of all festive events scheduled for December 25. The superintendent of the police (Traffic) Akshay Konde said that the police talked to operators of various shopping malls, hotels and event managers, and analysed the applications received in government offices to hold events on Christmas in the past 15 days. The police also collected data from local intelligence unit (LIU) and social media trends to determine the expected potential traffic on December 25. After analysing all this data, the officials said that the police have prepared a traffic plan for the smooth operation of traffic across the city. The police have assigned certain parking spaces to vehicles arriving at locations expected to be crowded on Christmas. As per the plan, vehicles arriving in the Clock Tower area will have to park in these spaces- Rajiv Gandhi complex, GTM Parking, Parade Ground, Smart city parking near the clock tower, SSP Office parking and  Rangers Ground.  Vehicles in the Rajpur Road area will be allowed to park in the parking of all shopping malls and complexes and roadside smart city parking. Konde said that a team will also be deployed to take action against vehicles parked in prohibited spaces.
