In latest news from Uttarakhand, a jumbo was killed in a train-hit incident which happened at around 3 in night and the carcass was found in an area under the Terai Central Forest Division. Another elephant, around seven years old, was seriously wounded in the same incident. It is learnt that the accident happened when the two elephants were crossing the rail tracks near the Shamshan Ghat on their way towards the Gaula forest under the Terai East Forest Division. On receiving news, the forest department officers from Gaula range rushed to the site. They informed that the injured elephant was being taken to Lalkuan for treatment.
